Pride Source on Location: We Visited Kris and Dave's Viral Pride Paradise
A sneak peek at our upcoming exclusive interview with the internet's favorite LGBTQ+ allies
Something special is brewing in our newsroom, and we can't wait to share it with you.
Our editorial director Chris Azzopardi recently made a pilgrimage to Detroit's historic Indian Village to visit Kris Cravens-Hutton and Dave Hutton — the Army veteran couple whose Instagram account @kris.and.dave has become a fierce beacon of LGBTQ+ advocacy, reaching more than 700,000 followers with their unapologetic allyship.
We first spoke with Kris and Dave earlier this year, shortly after Trump took office, when Kris was already making it clear that "the time for subtlety is over. I will not be silent or subtle or complacent." Even then, she was perfecting her approach to internet trolls — "I screenshot, block and delete them. I'm not interested in any troll account using our account to 'feed their ugly,' as my mama would say" — and delivering her signature send-off: "You go on and you have the day you deserve now."
Chris got an up-close look at their legendary Pride arbor (yes, the one made from approximately 1,700 foam flower petals that draws visitors from across the region) and sat down with this powerhouse duo who've turned internet trolls into fuel for their unwavering support of our community.
In a Pride season that feels more urgent than ever — with the Trump administration's renewed attacks on LGBTQ+ rights — Kris and Dave represent something beautiful and necessary: straight allies who refuse to stay quiet, who use their platform to amplify queer voices, and who've consistently championed Pride Source and our mission.

This couple has mastered the art of turning hate into hope, and their story of finding their advocacy voice through online harassment is both infuriating and inspiring. From their sprawling Craftsman home restoration to their viral clapbacks at bigots, they're proof that allyship isn't passive — it's active, it's loud and sometimes it involves a whole lot of craft foam.
Stay tuned for what promises to be an unforgettable conversation about community, courage, and why some people's "day you deserve" involves a serious mic drop.
More details coming soon — this is one interview you won't want to miss.
